Matthew Jane muses on award ceremonies

Getting the red carpet treatment is something everyone enjoys. A little taste of the high life and the chance to celebrate in success is an opportunity to savour.

This month saw the Guy Rotherham awards open for applicants, giving them the chance to celebrate the pioneering work taking place in general practices around the country.

I was fortunate to attend last years' celebration at the Palace of Westminster and was pleased to meet a couple of practice managers who were enjoying the chance to share in the celebrations.

Speaking to one of the GPs at the event, they were keen to discuss the important role played by their practice manager in pioneering innovative work.

There are too few opportunities for practice managers to bask in some of the glory of high achieving practices and it seems to make sense to take advantage of these chances.

If you are planning on putting your practice forward for any awards, we wish you the best of luck and do let us know - we would love to come and see your work firsthand.
