The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement will hold its fifth annual Breaking Through Conference in Manchester on 20 October 2008. The conference aims to bring together people of all levels from across the service to highlight the importance of a diverse leadership workforce in today's NHS. 

This year the conference will celebrate the contribution BME staff have made to the NHS over the last 60 years and look at their continued contribution in future

The importance of a diverse workforce at all levels of the NHS, particularly in light of ongoing demographic and population changes will be highlighted by a series of high profile speakers. The conference will also look at innovative ways in which the health service can build a workforce that truly reflects the community it serves,

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend workshops and to hear from a range of guest speakers, who will share their stories of ‘breaking through'. Guest speakers include: journalist and news commentator Henry Bonsu, Dragon's Den winner Levi Roots, and global futurist and inspirational speaker Rohit Talwar.
