Up to 20 new indicators across nine domains are being proposed by NICE
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has today released its potential new indicators for the 2013 and 2014 Qualified Outcomes Framework (QOF) for public consultation.
Up to 20 new indicators across nine domains are being proposed by NICE including two new proposed indicators on diabetes.
The NICE QOF Advisory Committee is to review the feedback received from the month-long consultation, and its UK-wide pilot results in June 2012.
Director of the centre for clinical practice at NICE, Dr Fergus Macbeth, commented on the opening of the consultation: “This consultation on potential new indicators is an integral part of NICE's process for QOF. It provides the opportunity for anyone to contribute to the development of indicators for the 2013/14 Quality Outcomes Framework.
“We value this input highly and any feedback will help the QOF Advisory Committee decide which indicators will be put forward for publication on the NICE menu for the QOF,” he said.
“The final menu of indicators, to be published on the NICE website in August, will support healthcare professionals to deliver good quality patient care, based on the best available evidence.”
There are 20 potential new indicators across the following 10 domains:
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Heart failure
• Secondary prevention of coronary heart disease
• Diabetes: Erectile dysfunction
• Depression
• Diabetes: Lipid management
• Hypertension
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Asthma
• Cancer
The consultation will be open until 5pm on Monday, 6 February.
