Work has commenced on the largest surgery in Bradford,
The £5.8m project will see the Ridge Medical Practice move into the an historically important site adjacent to a Grade II listed building.
It will provide a range of consulting and treatment rooms, minor surgery suites and a large pharmacy.
There will also be an 80-seat flexible lecture theatre, library and study areas and office facilities for the Primary Care Trust (PCT).
The building uses a natural ventilation system, under floor heating, roof mounted solar collectors to generate hot water and ISG will install a living green sedum roof.
Nick Nurden, Practice Manager commented: "We're building the new practice to help us meet the growing needs of local people. Yes, it'll be a big building with some impressive facilities, but the personal touch is vital to us and our patients. We're proud that this time next year, our patients will be served by one of the best GP surgeries in the whole country."
The project is scheduled for completion by summer 2009.
