Practice lose funds

Administrative error results in practice shortfall

Practices have lost thousands of pounds after an administrative error last month.

An error inexplicably cut the correction factors from MPIG statements in October, according to the GPC.

On average, practices will have lost around £1,750 from their core pay this month.

The DH confirmed it is investigating incorrect payments, but confusion remains over the number of practices that have been affected.

GPC chairman Dr Laurence Buckman said it would affect all practices on MPIG.

Buckman said the GPC and LMC leaders were aware of the problem, but that practices may not be aware of the error on their statements.

He urged practices to contact their LMC if they suspected anything to be wrong.
