GMS uplift should be limited

Released 18/11/2008

NHS group claim payments can be made elsewhere

The uplift to the GMS contract should be limited to 1.5 per cent, according to NHS Employers.

The claims come in evidence submitted to the Doctors and Dentists Review Body.

NHS Employers say that a 1.5 per cent uplift, combined with additional income that GPs can earn on top of GMS payments will equal a 2 per cent increase.

The group recommends the uplift is applied differentially across Britain, as they suggested in their new funding formula developed with the GPC last month.
