The Practice Management Network has re-launched its website to be more user-friendly and accessible, with an aim of making all resources just a click away.
The network was launched last September, and already has 2,500 members. Its aim is to act as a sounding board for policy within primary care and the wider NHS as well as connecting practice managers all over the country to share resources and support.
Run by practice managers, the network is a partnership between the NHS Alliance, BMA, National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) AMSPAR, Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), the Family Doctor Association and Institute of Healthcare Management.
Since its launch in September, the network has published a guide on Access and Responsiveness in general practice as well as providing chairs, presenters and facilitators for a series of roadshows, organised by the RCGP and BMA, on the same topics.
The group has also been inundated with requests from groups such as NHS Choices wishing to receive feedback and input from practice managers. Practice Manager Liz Mather, a member of the steering group, believes the success of the group has been giving practice managers a direct channel to speak to key members of the Department of Health and potentially having an influence.
Wendy Evans, who has 30 years experience in practice management, has been appointed as moderator/advisor for the newly re-launched website, and encourages other managers to join now as this is a crucial time for the network.
"We have spent the last five years working hard to establish a network and it's now really important that Practice Managers show their support for it as well as getting involved to tell us what they want from the network. I would say it is very much use it or lose it as we plan how the network will be funded and organised in the coming months," Wendy commented.
