Businesses providing healthcare in England and Wales have just a few weeks left before they lose their right to claim refunds totalling a potential £3,250,125 in overpaid rates going back to 2005. March 31 will be the final day on which formal appeals challenging the level of rates paid for the last five years will be accepted by the Inland Revenue's Valuation Office.
Director and chartered surveyor Nicholas Wright MRICS of ratesrecovery.com commented "Many businesses have clearly been paying excessive rates for the last 5 years but after the 31st March they will not be able to reclaim the money. Since 2005 there have been hundreds of thousands of successful appeals made disputing the amount of rates businesses are demanded to pay. This has generated many millions of pounds in refunds. Many businesses have not yet pursued a challenge. After March these businesses will potentially miss out on millions of pounds in savings.
Ratepayers need to act now and get advice as to whether they need to submit an appeal quickly before they lose their right to reclaim what is rightfully their money. We have launched www.ratescheck.co.uk as a quick, free way businesses can instantly tell whether they are in a high risk category for losing out on a refund."
